Sims 3 Relationship help?

I have two playable Sims that have been interacting with each other up until they were best friends and I was wondering if they were going to go past that point. They will flirt with each other non-stop, but they're only best friends, and I was wondering if they'll turn into love interests on their own without my intervention or not. I'm just kind of curious really.
